What Morphs Hold Value Best?

What Ball Python morphs hold their value the best?

Jim in Philly

As the market matures, we face the inevitable reality that the genes we work with will eventually lose value. However, not all morphs are created equal. Some will retain value much (MUCH) longer than others based on a few key criteria.

Here’s what I look for:

  • Is it awesome?
    • The cooler it looks, the more people will be willing to pay for it.
  • Is it rare?
    • The basic laws of supply and demand ensure that the less available a morph is, the higher the demand will be.
  • Is it hard to make?
    • The more difficult it is to reproduce, the longer it will take for supply meet the demand, solidifying a longer shelf-life of a higher price.

If a mutation or combo has only one (or none) of these criteria, it will hold little value over time. If it meets two of the criteria, its will sustain a moderate value. All three? Ball Python GOLD.
